Motion without Notice by Honourable Mamosoeu Wendy Makgate on the decline of HIV/AIDS infections

Chairperson, I hereby move without notice that the council-

Notes that South African government received high praise at an official launch of the latest United National Aids report in New York during the celebration of the medical milestones and interventions in responding to the devastating effects of the cause of HIV/Aids in societies across the globe;[Interjection]

Further notes that the United Nation Aids expressed its profound appreciation for its role and contribution towards the understanding, treatment and prevention of HIV/Aids in South Africa and across the African continent;

Acknowledges the profound work done by the Department of Health and the various committed nurses, doctors and volunteers across South Africa who put their shoulders on the wheel to ensure that we break the devastation - caused by HIV/Aids in our country, that results in decline of new HIV/Aids infection by 35% over the last 10-years; and

Take this opportunity to congratulate our government on its achievements so far and we wish our Deputy President and all other delegates success in their deliberations through their fourth coming United Nations` high level government conference on HIV/Aids in New York.
