Motion without Notice by Honourable Gauta George Mokgoro thanking KZN social development MEC and SABC`s touching lives

7 June 2011

I hereby move without notice: that the Council-

Notes that yesterday, KwaZulu-Natal Social Development MEC, Meshack Radebe visited 15-year old twin brothers; Thembinkosi and Benkinkosi Ndluli who had been living in a scrapped car for more than a year;

Further notes that the MEC, Meshack Radebe ended the boy`s plight which came to light on SABC`s touching live at the weekend by moving them to a safe house, while prominent businessmen; Sydney Pandrum and Eric Sewja build a five bed-roomed house for them; and

Take this opportunity to congratulate the SABC for its innovative programme which has assisted 100s of destitute families and individuals across South African; and MEC Radebe and the two businessmen for rising to the call of national duty to assist the two boys and they are undertaking to provide further assistance to ensure that they continue with their education in order to break the cycle of generational poverty facing many of our people whose lives were made unbearable and disadvantaged by the long years of apartheid`s segregation and discrimination in our country. I so move.
