Alexandria ANC PCO donates rugby kit to school

Ukhanyo High SchoolThe Parliamentary Constituency Office of the ANC in Alexandria has donated a rugby kit to Ukhanyo High School on Thursday 31st May 2012 at the school premises. The kit was presented by Brian Maloni who administers the activities of the Alexandria PCO.

The kit comprised of a set of 22 rugby jerseys, socks and shorts. It was presented to the Principal Mr MV Mafani, his sport officials Mr VM Daile and Mr. N. Botha with the Deputy Principal Mr M Jonas and school children present. Among the rugby players of Ukhanyo High three have been selected to play for EP Schools and they are A. Gans, C. Mthimkhulu and S. Teyise all from Alexandria (in the picture with Mr Maloni and their coach Mr Neville Botha). This was made possible by Minister Lindiwe Sisulu who is the Member of Parliament for the Alexandria Constituency and surrounding rural areas. The three boys will be representing EP Under 19 in the match against the Griquas on the 2nd June 2012 in Uitenhage Brandwag Field and on the same day compete against the Western Province.

Another MP who serves the same constituency is Mr Stone Sizani who`s focus on youth is education. He has through his efforts been able to negotiate with local further education and training institutions to assist students who qualify and register to be funded and continue with their studies. He has with Minister Sisulu been able to register through their office about 14 young people to attend the program of the National Rural Service Corps under the Rural Development and Land Reform Department. As we speak they are undergoing military training at Kimberley for life skills and character building for six months which later be followed by 18 months of theory at FET for training in areas like agriculture, electricity, plumbing etc. by the Department of FET and on their completion placed by DBSA at various sites for practicals according to their fields of specialisations and they will accredited by SETA.
