Motion congratulating Priscillah Mabelane on her appointment as the first black woman to Head BPSA

The African National Congress moves without notice: That the House

1) congratulates Priscillah Mabelane for being appointed the first woman CEO in the history of the country's oil industry to head BP Southern Africa;
2) notes that Priscillah Mabelane took the helm of BPSA on Friday,01 September 2017, six years after she joined the organisation as its chief financial officer;
3) further notes that Mabelane most recently served as operations director for BP's UK retail business, where she is credited with maintaining a strong safety record while delivering record levels of financial performance and progress on key strategic milestones;
4) recalls that prior her joining BP, she held various executive roles in large South African companies including Airports Company (Acsa) where she was the CFO, Ernst & Young where she was a tax director and Eskom where she held various roles in finance, tax and general management;
5) believes that Ms Priscillah Mabelane who is a qualified chartered accountant with a BCom honours in accounting is a capable and experienced leader who can take BPSA to greater heights;
6) also believes that her appointment as a CEO of BPSA will serve as a catalyst in inspiring young black women to aspire for greater things in life;
7) thanks BPSA for commitment in women empowerment; and
8) wishes Priscillah Mabelane much success in her new position of responsibility.
