Motion on Khehla Sitole Appointed National Police Commissioner

The African National Congress moves without notice: That the House

1) welcomes the appointment of Lieutenant-General Khehla John Sitole as the new national police commissioner on Wednesday 22 November 2017;
2) acknowledges that Sitole worked his way through the ranks to become Free State provincial commissioner in 2011, deputy national commissioner of policing in 2013, and national divisional commissioner of protection and security services in 2016;
3) understands that he is a man of integrity who could restore stability to the top ranks of the South African Police Services;
4) believes that his extensive experience in the police service will assist him to execute this critical task of making South Africans and everyone in the country safer; and
5) congratulates Khehla on his appointment and wishes him well in his new position of responsibility.
